The AC XL+ series opens to 90–91 mm. That makes room for larger canisters: up to 9,402 straws of 0.25 ml in one vessel. One filling still lasts up to 152 days. Choose short canisters (-S) for straws or long canisters (-L) with two goblets each for straws and cryovials. The (10) version carries ten canisters instead of six.

What sets the series apart

The neck opening decides.

The neck opening is the largest heat bridge of every vessel. A narrow neck opening keeps nitrogen longest. A wide neck opening takes more canisters or racks, but needs refilling more often. The 5 vessel series of the family, neck openings drawn to scale:

Every AC XL+ vessel comes with 6 canisters that hang in a ring below the neck opening. The AC XL+11-S (10) carries ten. The letter at the end of the model name tells you which kind.

What the numbers mean in daily use.

Holding time is a lab value

Every opening shortens the holding time. Plan your refill interval with a buffer, especially if you access samples often.

Liquid or vapour phase

Samples are stored submerged in liquid nitrogen. With long canisters, storage in the vapour phase above the liquid may also be possible. Ask us before you plan it.

Carry it, drive it

Aluminium body, 6.2 kg (AC XL+10) to 15.5 kg (AC XL+35) empty. The AC XL+10 and all T models may be transported under ADR, for example in your own vehicle.

When to choose another series

For the longest holding time, the narrower AC L. For cryoboxes in racks, the AC 2XL-B or AC 3XL. For the most straws, the AC 2XL.
